Simplifying life by minimizing your wallet
In web design, I preach elegance and simplicity -- and I always relish the opportunity to apply those tenets to other parts of my life. That's why I love my minimalist wallet, the latest addition to my efficiency and productivity lineup. The Slimmy is about the size of a credit card, thinner than my iPhone, and the best thing that's happened to my pockets in a long time.
I initially made the leap for convenience and safety while traveling -- a front-pocket wallet is safer from pickpockets, and still fits everything I need. I was so glad to reduce my baggage (and stop sitting on a big, thick slab of leather all the time) that I stuck with it -- and dramatically reduced my life overhead in the process. Instead of loads of discount cards, business cards and credit cards I never use, my new wallet contains my ID, insurance card, two debit cards and a couple folded bills. Minimizing the amount I can carry allows me to cut out the stuff I don't really need -- and, just like my efforts to reduce my paperwork and administrative overhead, helps me lead a better organized and more effective life.
